{"id":14577,"date":"2020-06-02T16:11:04","date_gmt":"2020-06-02T23:11:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radtorque.com\/?p=14577"},"modified":"2026-06-03T13:30:26","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T20:30:26","slug":"covid-19-statement-from-new-world-technologies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radtorque.com\/ca-east\/covid-19-statement-from-new-world-technologies\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 Statement from New World Technologies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14580 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.radtorque.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-World-Logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"124\" height=\"90\" \/><\/p>\n<h5><strong>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>ABBOTSFORD, BC (June 2, 2020)<\/strong> \u2013 Abbotsford manufacturer of torque wrenches, New World Technologies, confirms two employees have tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve recently been notified by Fraser Health Authority that two of our employees have tested positive for COVID-19,\u201d says Irene Tod, Vice President, Sales &amp; Marketing at New World Technologies. \u201cThey are both at home recovering from their mild symptoms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since mid-March, New World Technologies has implemented a COVID-19 Pandemic Preparedness Plan (PPP) based on the recommendations of Health Canada, WorkSafe BC, BC Health and Dr. Bonnie Henry.<\/p>\n<p>The plan includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enhanced cleaning and sanitation throughout the facility<\/li>\n<li>Daily COVID communication and signage about hygiene and symptoms<\/li>\n<li>Additional hand sanitizing stations in all buildings<\/li>\n<li>Closure of all staff gathering spaces<\/li>\n<li>Closure of office to public<\/li>\n<li>Mandatory weekly health survey for all employees<\/li>\n<li>Work-from-home assistance, as well as support for employees who have chosen to stay home<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThe health and safety of all New World Technologies employees and their families is our top priority. As a closed manufacturing facility with multiple locations, we are thankful this outbreak has only affected one of our departments in an isolated building, where just four people work in a physically distanced environment. If there\u2019s anything other businesses can learn from our experience, is to not get complacent about COVID-19,\u201d says Tod.<\/p>\n<p>Fraser Health Authority is in regular communication with the team at New World Technologies and they are satisfied that the company has taken all appropriate measure to minimize the spread of the virus. Additional employees have been tested and will continue to be tested.
